Transformers Review
Shelley and I saw transformers yesterday. My reaction?
Wow. Wow Diggity-Wow-Wow.
...back in the day, I was an avid fan of the cartoon series and had a large assortment of Transformer toys. I remember getting Optimus Prime for Christmas one year. That day still lives on in memory everytime I open a gift. I still get the tingles everytime I remember how wonderful Optimus looked in his packaging. There truly was not a better toy, ever. Of course, now were I to try and recall where he may be, I can’t say. I really want another original Optimus Prime from the 80’s. So, I came to this movie expecting, well, a lot.
This movie was everything I could’ve wanted. True, there were a couple oddities that were a bit different than I expected, but turned out alright. For example, Bumblee – As a Volkswagon Beetle, he was still a bad ass robot. But, as a new Camaro? Truly badass.
Jazz? Well… He did at least sound like Jazz, just didn’t look at all the part. Pontiac Solstice? A gray Pontiac Solstice? Eh… Alright, I guess. I kinda miss the Porsche painted in the Martini colors. Still, overall, not bad. Again, he did at least sound the same.
Optimus. Again. Wow. I was HIGHLY impressed that they used the same voice-guy from the cartoon series. Nice touch.
I told Shelley yesterday that I so want to buy the movie when it comes out on DVD. Here’s a tip, if you go to see this movie, see it in digital. The image quality is amazing.
